Kokis crispy and tasty

For this traditional new year festival celebration, everyone makes traditional foods. Hmm I could make kokis only though there are many kinds of food.

To make kokis I allocated 300g rice flour,

Coconut milk of one coconut, make 2 cups from it.

About 1tsp of salt,

1tbsp of sugar.. you may add more for your taste preference. 🙂

1tsp of turmeric powder to give it a yellow colour.

1 egg to avoid stickiness ; helps easily removed from mould.

I used 1tbsp of butter for the same reason . But I suggest that you need not use butter because it might cause the mould not to get enough of the batter as it increases slippery.

Oil 500ml

Let's see how we can make the batter for the kokis:

Put rice flour into a bowl. Then add coconut milk (2 cups) little by little and stir it well. Add turmeric powder, salt, sugar and mix it well. I added butter as well but I recommend you not to.

We have finished making the batter...🙂

Next ..

Sink the mould into the batter then sink the mould with the batter into the heated oil.

As the kokis becomes stiff, separate it from the mould. Fry it until it's colour becomes gold or brown.

Now we have made kokis !!!

You may add more sugar so it will be sweet and tastier!!!!

😀😋👍

Old Chocolate Bag

2022-Nov-10 This is a chocolate bag. My mother could find it from her cupboard. It was a chocolate bag gifted from my uncle. It's now more than 15 years old for this bag. But it is still look new and good quality. It is a transparent bag. It has a nice cartoon boat picture on its body. You probably know the name of the chocolate in it.  It's so cute. I like it.

Vesak has arrived.

This is Vesak season. It seems that many people are preparing for Vesak with great enthusiasm and are going to see Vesak. Very beautiful Vesak lanterns are erected and hung in many places. Why is Vesak special? It is on Vesak that the Lord Buddha, who realized the truth of the world, was born, passed away (Parinirwanaya), and became a Buddha (Enlightened). To remember these, the Buddhist people of the world engage in various religious ceremonies for them. In the distant past of the Bodhisattva, when he was an ascetic Sumedha, the Bodhisattvas received the definitive explanation from the Lord Buddha named Dipankara on a Vesak day. Lord Buddha came to Kelaniya and placed his left foot mark on Samanala Mountain, "Sri Pada," on Vesak day. Several other very special incidents like this happened on the day of Vesak Pura Pasaloswaka. Vesak Lantern This picture shows the Vesak lantern I made for this Vesak. I bought a plastic template to make this. After that, three colors of tissue...
